Experience the peaceful wilderness of Wilpattu National Park on an early-morning 4×4 jeep safari. Starting around 6:00 AM, the cooler morning hours provide excellent opportunities to explore the park’s forests, open areas and natural villus (lakes) while wildlife is active. Keep your camera ready for possible sightings of Sri Lankan leopards, elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, crocodiles and a wide variety of birds. Leopard sightings are particularly associated with the early morning and late afternoon, although wildlife encounters can never be guaranteed.

Wilpattu morning safari starts at 6 AM, therefore you will be picked up at 5.15 AM from your hotel in Wilpattu or any other location you with us prior to the safari tour.

Wilpattu park is open throughout the year, however February to October is the prime time. Wilpattu is located 30 kms north of Puttalam, approximately 190 kms from Colombo.

Overview

• Wilpattu park houses Leopards, Elephants, Bears, Deer, Crocodiles, Reptiles and many varieties of birds including the Garganey, Pin tail, Whistling Teal, Spoonbill, White Ibis, Large White Egret, Cattle Egret and Purple Heron. There are  Gulls, Terns, Owls, Kites and Eagles as well.  Also watchout for Sri Lanka’s endemic Jungle fowl, Little Cormorant and the Painted Stork.
