Description

The Udawalawe National Park Full-Day Safari is a 12-hour private wildlife experience designed for travelers who want to spend both the morning and afternoon exploring the park. The tour is especially suitable for visitors interested in Sri Lankan elephants, wildlife photography and birdwatching. The operator recommends a full-day safari because animal activity is unpredictable, allowing you more time to wait, explore and observe wildlife without rushing.

The safari begins with hotel pickup at approximately 5:15 AM. You travel to Udawalawe National Park in a comfortable vehicle before starting the morning game drive at around 6:00 AM. The early morning provides cooler conditions and an opportunity to observe animals while they are active.

The morning safari runs from approximately 6:00 AM to 12:00 noon. During this six-hour game drive, you explore different habitats within the park, including forest, grassland and areas around water. The main attraction is the park’s wild Asian elephants, which can often be seen moving freely in herds. The safari guide provides information about elephant behavior, their natural habitat and other wildlife found in the park.

Udawalawe also supports a wide variety of wildlife. Possible sightings include water buffaloes, crocodiles, monkeys, deer, leopards and many other mammals. The park is also an important birdwatching location, with resident and migratory birds adding to the safari experience. Wildlife sightings are naturally unpredictable, so no particular animal can be guaranteed.
