Experience the wild side of Sri Lanka with an afternoon safari in Yala National Park with SL Safari. The afternoon drive is an excellent opportunity to explore Yala’s forests, grasslands, lagoons, and open plains as the wildlife becomes increasingly active later in the day.

The safari usually begins in the early afternoon, allowing you to enjoy several hours inside the park before sunset. As the temperature gradually becomes cooler, animals often move from shaded areas into open spaces, giving visitors opportunities to spot Sri Lankan leopards, elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, wild buffalo, crocodiles, monkeys, wild boar, and a wide variety of birds.

The SL Safari afternoon safari is ideal for travellers who prefer a later start and want to experience Yala during the cooler hours of the day. With patience, experienced guiding, and a little luck, every drive can bring a different wildlife encounter.

Overview

• There are 44 mammals in this park including elephants, sloth bears, leopards being the highlight and many other species. Although it is not known as a bird watching location, Yala is home to more than 215 bird varieties that include Sri Lankan wood pigeon, bee-eaters, Sri Lankan frog-mouth and many others.
